All clubs, which are members of their FIFA affiliated national associations, are welcome to participate in the Gothia Cup. In countries where football is operated by the schools we also allow teams affiliated by their school football association.
The tournament begins with a group play. Teams are divided into groups of four or five, where all teams are playing each other once. The first and second team of the group qualify for “Play-off A”, the other teams of the group for “Play-off B”. The tournament is played under all applicable FIFA or Swedish FA rules.
All players must be insured, both for games and leisure time.
Arrival for all teams is on Sunday July 14th. Kick-off for the group round games is on Monday, July 15th.

*) In Girls 11 and Boys 11 no results are published and there is no play off. Instead there will be 3 group stages. Please read more in the regulation.
There is no limit to the number of players in each team. However only 7 substitutes are allowed in each match of 11-a-side and 9-a-side. In classes B11, B12 and G11, G12 you are allowed to have unlimited number of players during a single match, but only 7 on the playing field simultaneously.
All players must be able to show proof of age and identity. We recommend that all players use the same shirt number throughout the tournament.
In 11-a-side categories, dispensations will automatically be given to maximum two (2) players per team who are maximum one year over aged.
In 9-a-side categories, dispensation will automatically be given to maximum one (1) player per team who is maximum one year over aged.
For 7-a-side, no dispensation will be granted automatically. Dispensation for maximum one (1) player in a 7-a-side team, who already has a dispensation from his local football association, can be applied for by contacting the Gothia Cup office.
Note that it is not allowed to have more over age players on the participant list than specified above and switch them between matches.
Girls may play in boys teams in all classes as long as the regulations for age categories are followed.
In recent years we have not been able to accept all teams that wished to participate. The teams that have registered and paid the registration fee has first priority. Registration counts as the date we receive the registration fee.
Deadline for making a registration is April 10th. Please note that the teams that have registered and paid their registration fee first will be given priority when we reach the maximum number of teams in a category (categories A, B, C). Keep in mind that some of the categories are fully booked very early.
Category A - School accommodation:
Everyone staying at the school players and leaders has to pay the accommodation fee. The fee is inclusive of Gothia Card and 18 meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) starting with dinner on July 14 and ending with lunch on July 20. Minimum one, maximum four leaders per team may stay in the school You can rent mattresses and bedding from us for an additional cost (if you bring your own mattress it can not be wider that 75 cm).
Category B - Hotel accommodation:
Hotel booking through Gothia Cup. The fee is inclusive of Gothia Card and breakfast. Contact [email protected] for pricing and availability. Lunch and dinner vouchers for meals at nearby schools can be purchased.
Category C - Own accommodation:
Teams arranging their own accommodation.. All participants players and leaders has to pay the to pay the participant fee. The fee is inclusive of Gothia Card
Each team that have booked accommoadtion through Gothia Cup receives two Leader Cards, giving entry to the Gothia Leaders Party, a Gothia Cup Coach polo shirt and entrance to Gothia Leaders Lounge at Heden. If you have more than two leaders you can purchase extra Gothia Leader Card for 35 EUR/45 USD each.
For people with special food needs/allergies we are able to arrange this. If you wish to order Vegetarian food the cost is 10 Euro/ 15 USD per person. Please note that we don’t serve any dishes with pork. For those who have ordered special food you will receive a personal voucher that you print when you do your check in online. This voucher should be presented at every meal.
All registered teams in Gothia Cup have their own My Team Info login. This is your personal portal where important information about the tournament is updated regularly, both by the teams and Gothia Cup.
Please note that each team is responsible for deadlines of when information, orders and similar are to be submitted.
Via My Team Info you can update your registration, place orders, fill out the list of participants, make payments and see your outstanding balance.
All teams have to check in online before their arrival to the tournament. This is done on My Team Info. The online check in can be done by the earliest on July 1 and by the latest on July 13.
If there is any requested information missing on My Team Info you will not be able to do your check in online. When you check in online you print your booking confirmation.
Please observe, that you must bring your booking confirmation and possible vouchers that you have printed to the tournament to collect your orders.
Return transfer between airport/railway station/ferry terminal in Gothenburg and your accommodation is included in the accommodation fee. Note that there is only one return transfer per team/group included. The transfer is exclusively for teams, and NOT for accompanying people. Transfer must be booked in advance with Gothia cup and can only be booked for minimum 10 people per group.
If a team need to arrive or depart outside the tournament dates (July 14-20) extra nights (maximum 2 nights) can be arranged at a cost.
Only one school is open before and after the tournament. The team will be moved to its regular school when the tournament start. If the extra night is after the tournament the team will be moved from it's regular school to the specific school for extra nights. The cost per person and extra night is 15 EURO/ 15 USD.
Please observe that no meals are served during the extra nights. All meals has to be arranged by the team and the team´s own expenses.
We reserve us the right during the tournament when needed to move a team from their accommodation to be lodged in another accommodation and the right to dismiss a participant from Gothia Cup accommodation if the participant commits criminal offense or at repeated occasions violates our rules.
For teams with booked accommodation through Gothia Cup the team manager as indicated on the Participants list is responsible for the team's behavior.
For teams reaching the finals, each player will receive a medal, and the teams the specially designed Gothia Cup trophy. For teams reaching the finals in the B play-off there will be medals and a trophy. The two loosing teams in the A play-off semi final will receive a third place trophy and bronze medals during halftime of the final in their class.
A trophy is awarded the best club. Points are awarded as follows:
Top three teams per club are only counted.
By equal points the club with fewer teams taking part wins.

The registration fee must be paid within 10 days of submitting the registration online Accommodation fee must be paid no later than May 10th 2019. If the cost of accommodation has not been paid for 5 days after its due date the Gothia Cup has the right to cancel your registration without any right to a refund or compensation for the registered team/club. Once we receive the payment of your registration fee we will confirm your registration. Note that all bank transaction fees have to be paid for by the teams. You have to pay in the currency (Euro or USD) that is the most ”natural” currency in your country. Please observe that we do not accept any personal or company cheques.
May 10: Last date for the accommodation fee/participation fee for all participants who stay in a school, a hotel or other. Both leaders and players pay this fee. You can cancel players until June 10, after that a doctors certificate is required.
June 10: Final date for payments of extra orders as extra Gothia Cards, extra Leaders Card, special food or meal cards. Also the deadline to cancel a player. After that a doctor’s certificate is required.
July 14: Arrival day, no matches are played.
July 15: The matches begin. The Opening Ceremony
19-20 July: Finals
The age control can be made until 18:00 on Tuesday. The teams can play both Mondays and Tuesdays game without finishing the age control.
The age control van be made on all playing fields used during the Gothia Cup. At the playing fields the age control will be open as long as matches are being played. But no later than 18:00 on Tuesday.

Make sure you have a completed list of participants with you to the age control. All teams have to complete its participants list digitally on the team’s My Team Info page. The list of participants can then be printed out and from there and taken as a physical copy to the age verification.
Teams in the age categories Boys 11 and Girls 11 do not need to do the age control. Teams in these age categories only needs to submit the list of players. The list of players can be submitted at the same locations as the age control is made.
All players that will participate in the tournament MUST be included on the list of participants at age control.
You may NOT complete the list with new names after the age control.
If a player cannot be present at the age control, the name of the player must be included on the list of participants when age control is made. The player, along with responsible leaders must then come to Heden Exercishuset and do the age control afterwards for only that player. This must be done before the player plays his/her first game. NOTE! The player MUST be included on the list of participants from the beginning. You may NOT add a player who is not on the list. It should ONLY be done if a player gets injured or ill during the tournament. Then you MUST have a medical certificate stating that Player X cannot longer participate in the tournament.
A player may represent the same club/school in VARIOUS age groups, but the player may NOT represent different teams in the SAME age group. If a player represents a club/school in several age classes, the player MUST be included on the list of participants for all teams this player will be playing with. The player MUST also attend and conduct age controls with all team this player will be playing with.
