Nacka FC made a second finals appearance in Gothia Cup 2018 – and so did Ellen Wangerheim, who settle the G13 final yesterday. She was again a part of Nacka’s victory, as she scored three goals against American San Francisco Aftershocks in a 5-1 victory.
Nacka started the best, scoring after just seven minutes. Malva Hadell came free on the right hand side, shooting low to the left of the Aftershock keeper.
Nacka continued playing exemplary in the offense, switching sides and keeping the ball away from San Francisco. Nea Flyborg in Nacka was a constant threat, passing great through balls and keeping the San Francisco defense on their toes.
When Ellen Wangerheim scored Nacka’s second goal – slotting it cooly in the back of the net – it was her second goal in a Gothia Cup final this year, as she was the deciding factor for Nacka yesterday in the G13 final against German Hamburger Sport Verein.
In the second half, Nea Flyborg was not only a threat – she also created 3-0 when she dribbled past three defenders, and ended the raid with a goal via an Aftershock defenders leg.
With only 20 minutes left of the match, San Francisco had to push forward in order to give themselves a possibility to win, but that opened for Ellen Wangerheim, who could complete her hattrick.
Aftershocks could also get a goal this morning, through a long-distance lob by Cathrine Young that sailed in to goal.
Ellen Wangerheim have won Gothia Cup twice in two days and on top of that, scored four goals in total in the finals!
– It feels incredible good to win this final and we have played so good. I missed the ride with the gold bus yesterday so it will be a big celebration today and hopefully a good meal, says a happy Ellen Wangerheim.
