Eminent Latin American football teams to Gothia PUMA Trophy (B17)

Two eminent successful teams are among the twelve foreign B17 academies that are invited to Gothia Cups B17 tournament – PUMA Trophy. Once in Gothenburg they will play against twelve Swedish teams from handpicked academies.

Among the twelve teams invited from foreign academies to the B17 tournament are two eminent Mexican teams; PUMAS and Necaxa. These football teams are for the first time taking part in this tournament in Gothenburg. They are especially invited together with other football clubs to take part in this tournament, this to give the Swedish teams as good of an international match as possible.

Midst the other participating academies are Right to Dream from Ghana, former winner of the tournament three times out of the last four years.

Following are the foreign B17 academies that are taking place in this year PUMA Trophy.

The participating academy from Portugal is yet not decided.

  3. Cerezo Osaka, Japan
  4. Sony Academies, Guinea
  5. Necaxa Club, Mexico
  6. Cavalier FC, Jamaica
  7. Audax, Brazil
  8. GD Estoril Praia, Portugal
  9. Agngbel FC, Ivory Coast
  10. Avia, Brazil
  11. ACBB, France
  12. Tiki Taka Academy, Nigeria

It is decided that IF Elfsborg, IF Brommapojkarna, BK Häcken, IFK Göteborg, AIK, IFK Norrköping, Östersunds FK, GIF Sundsvall, Örebro SK, Kalmar FF, IK Sirius and Trelleborgs FF are the teams invited to represent Sweden during the tournament.

The teams will get divided into six groups with two Swedish and two foreign football clubs in each group. The group division will be executed and presented within the near future. 

Gothia PUMA Trophy:

Gothia PUMA Trophy is a talent tournament for 17-year old’s which is a part of Gothia Cup. 24 teams, twelve from Sweden and twelve foreign teams, are invited to participate in the B17-tournament and 16 teams (8+8) in the G17 class. The teams are divided into groups where the group winner and the runner-up qualifies for the A-playoffs.
