France won the World Cup in football yesterday – today the French player Thibault Le Gargasson scored the first Gothia Cup goal ever in Alingsås.
For the first time in the history of Gothia Cup matches are played in the city of Alingsås and the sun truly welcomed everyone to the town. At 8.00 in the morning the first kick offs were made at the five different pitches.
At Mjörnvallen, idyllic located right next to the lake Mjörn, three games started simultaneously and already after two minutes the first team was able to celebrate.
The French team A.S.F. Le Perreux in the Boys 15 category, from the outskirts of Paris, scored the first goal in ever in Gothia Cup in Alingsås and maybe the first goal in this years tournament. The goal scorer was Thibault Le Gargasson.
“I was really happy as I don’t score so often normally”, the midfielder says.
A.S.F. Le Perreux won by 3–1 against Arboga Södra IF after goals from Paul Sauvaget and Ilies Bellik.
It will truly be days to remember for him and his teammates. Yesterday they watched the World Cup final together and celebrated by swimming in the lake and hope they can celebrate more victories later this week.
”We are really excited to be here, we have looked forward to play Gothia Cup. But to win this tournament will be difficult, there are so many good teams here and we are not PSG”, Le Gargasson says.

On one of the other pitches at Mjörnvallen Bollebygds IF from Sweden played against the German side St Pauli from Hamburg.
Tindra Carlsson started the game as a substitute but scored the first goal of the game the minute after she came in. She also scored the 2–0 goal and her team went on to win the game by 5–2.
”It is the first time we play Gothia Cup and it was really fun to play. We didn’t know anything about our opponents beforehand and I guess they didn’t know anything about us either. We kept fighting and tried to play our game and it was great t start the tournament with a win”, she says.
