Last Summer Gothia eCup was released – yesterday the tournament was awarded at the prestigious Gyllene Hjulet gala in Stockholm.
More than 1,200 people participated when Gothia eCup was held for the first time last year. The virtual football tournament lasted four weeks and the eight best players came to Gothenburg to fight for the tournament victory.
Gothia eCup was hosted together with Coca-Cola Sweden and UMG and has been observed even from those outside the football sphere. When Gyllene Hjulet, the yearly and prestigious gala within sponsorships and events, was held yesterday Gothia eCup was nominated for the digital solution award – and it was a big success!
Despite the strong competitors Gothia eCup won the award.
“We are really proud of this. We strongly believed in the idea and together with our partners we created a Gothia Cup even for kids playing video games. This is a proof that we succeeded in our efforts”, Thomas Anderson, head of sales at Gothia Cup says.
The explanatory statement:
“Gothia eCup unites football interested youth from all over the world so develop the worlds biggest FIFA tournament. The reason for the project was to create a digital meeting point to make sure more people can become a part of community in the world’s biggest football tournament for youth. With a new digital platform where it is possible to reach out to the youth who might not have the opportunity to participate in Gothia Cup but still with football as the common denominator.”
