Registration for Gothia Cup 2018 opened yesterday and the lists quickly filled up. Teams registered in Category D, local teams staying at home during the cup, managed to fill up the category in less than an hour. It took 53 minutes until the category reached its capacity – the wait list opened for teams who registered after that.
Two years ago, the category for local teams filled up within two weeks. Last year, the same category reached its capacity within two days. For 2018’s tournament, this previous record was broken by far!
– Last year, the response time took us by surprise. We were prepared this year but still did not expect it to be this quick! The day registration opens is special to us as it is the first step towards 2018’s cup. Our focus now is making Gothia Cup 2018 our best tournament this far, says Competition General Niclas Freiholtz.
400 teams registered for Gothia Cup 2018 within the first 24 hours. Teams can register in one of four categories: staying at a school, booking a hotel via Gothia Cup, arranging their own accommodation or local teams staying at home during the cup.
