The rain was falling on the streets of Gothenburg this Sunday. But at the same time the teams were heading and arriving to the city with lot of excitement to kick off the 43rd edition of Gothia Cup.
More than 40 000 participants expects to arrive and be in Gothenburg and Gothia Cup today. Tomorrow we kick off the tournament and a year of waiting is finally over.
ED Moratalaz from Madrid, Spain, came to Burgardens High School on Sunday. They were tired after a three hours flight from Spain, and a little bit wet due the heavy rain.
“It feels great to be here, we flew from Madrid today and landed at Landvetter recently. It’s cold here, colder than home”, Sergio from Moratalaz says.
It is the first time he his here with his team but Moratalaz is a familiar team at Gothia Cup.
“An older team came second place last year. This year we want to win”, Sergio says.
Even if the weather wasn’t showing from their best side this arrival day, the happiness of arriving to the biggest youth tournament in the world was huge. And the weather forecast for tomorrow’s first group stage matches says it will be sunny.
