AIK FF won the first final this Saturday morning by winning against their local rival, Hammarby IF in Girls 14 category. 1–1 after full time meant that the game had to determined on penalties. AIK showed strength and could collect their club’s 13th titel in Gothia Cups history.
It was a closed opening of the first final this Saturday morning. The big rivals from Stockholm, Hammarby IF and AIK FF faced each other and it was a lot of tough challenges on the pitch. The first scoring chance came from AIK when Sefanit Samrawe took a shot but the ball just went outside the post.
It was also AIK who opens the score after 19 minutes and it was an absolute beauty from Rosa Kafaji.
Hammarby started to chase an equalizer and they created a lot of scoring chances, specially from number 6, Alexandra Calixte Rosengren.
But after the first half it was still AIK who had the advantage by leading 1–0.
The second half continued with a chase for an equalizer for Hammarby. The team had a lot of possession but didn’t get the ball close enough to create som scoring chances. But from a Bolt from the blue Vendela Dreifaldt scored the equalizer with an impressive solo performance.
Vendela Dreifaldt kept being a threat for the AIK’s defense. With one minute left of the game she took a shot and the goalkeeper in AIK, Vendela Persbeck really had to show her skills.
However, the game ended 1–1 and penalties had to determine a winner.
The penalty shootout was a nervous thing, were both teams missed a couple of penalties but in the end it was AIK who showed strength and nerves in control.
The goal scorer in the game, Rosa Kafaji was really happy after the game.
” It feels really good. I think it was even, but we still had control of the game. It was nervous before the penalties but we remain calm. We will celebrate by being just as happy as we can”, Rosa Kafaji says.
