A tough rival meeting - Gothia Cup

A tough rival meeting

A loss for both teams in the first match. Now it was time for IFK Göteborg and AIK to meet in the B17E series, where there was nothing else on the agenda for both teams than to score three points. But the game ended up with a draw.

As always when IFK Göteborg and AIK meet, there will be a special atmosphere in the air, as well on the pitch as on the stands. Two teams who likes to play physically attended SKF-Arena during Tuesday night. The match began hard and attacking.

But it was Gothenburg that came out best and scored 1–0 just before the referee was to end the first half. AIK came out strong in the other half and did not want to get worse and evened the score in the beginning of the second half. The rest of the game consisted of tough tackles, good football and some nice scoring opportunities. But there were no more goals.

AIK’s scorer Bilal Hussein is pleased with today’s efforts towards IFK Göteborg.

– We felt stable until they scored, but the backline worked well and we struggled together. It’s fun when there are many people watching. If we win tomorrow there is a chance we will continue to the playoffs, so now it’s just to reload, says Bilal.

IFK Göteborgs defender Jake Weisbrod is not as happy with the result but thinks that the team’s attitude was good.

– It’s harder now without a win, now so much depends on how we play tomorrow but also how it goes for the other teams. We must look positive, although it can not be so much positive right now. As long as we win tomorrow, we have a chance.
