The Kim Källström Trophy receives a 50,000 euro contribution

On the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, the Kim Källström Trophy by Gothia Cup was awarded a contribution of 50,000 euro by the Postcode Lottery Sport Foundation. The Kim Källström Trophy provides young people with some form of intellectual disability the opportunity to participate in the Gothia Cup.

The contribution enables Gothia Cup to arrange the Kim Källström Trophy, providing young people around the world the opportunity to come to Gothenburg and participate in the World Youth Cup.

”This contribution enables the development of the Kim Källström Trophy and we are delighted to have the opportunity to bring young people from all around the world, who otherwise would not have had the possibility, to Gothenburg and the Gothia Cup. The entire contribution will be used in the tournament, for example to cover the participating teams’ costs, as for accomodation and leisure activities”, says Dennis Andersson, General Secretary of the Gothia Cup.

Martin Kihlström, the General Manager of the Postcode Lottery Sport Foundation, handed over the check to Kim Källström, the founder of the tournament.

”Kim has made an incredible work with the Kim Källström Trophy. The best thing about the KKT is that it is a natural part of the big tournament and that Kim’s passionate engagement for these children and youth comes from within”, said Martin Kihlström.

The Kim Källström Trophy is a tournament within the Gothia Cup that is organized together with Special Olympics and gives young people with some form of intellectual disability the opportunity to participate in the Gothia Cup, as well as building a more inclusive and tolerant society, not just in Sweden but around the world.

The worlds largest and most international youth football tournament.
