The international teams in Gothia Tipselit Trophy

All teams are now set for this summer’s Gothia Cup Tipselit Trophy (G17/B17)! The Gothenburg audience will enjoy both new and returning stars at Heden this summer.

– It is really exciting that Right to Dream from Ghana, the crowds’ favourite, joins with one boys team and one girls team, says Competition General Niclas Freiholtz.

The interest for Gothia Cup teams aged 17 increases each year and lining up this year are several outstanding clubs. One of the most interesting newcomers is Gamba Osaka, a Japanese team joining with both one girls team and one boys team. The second is Aberdeen FC, the first Scottish team to join B17. In addition to that, last year’s B16 champions, Las Vegas Sports, is returning to participate in this year’s B17 class.

Ivory Coast ASEC is participating for the second time in a row and along with the class’ newcomer, New Talent Generation from Uganda, Tikitaka from Nigeria, and double teams from Right to Dream from Ghana they make up a solid African representation in this year’s tournament.

– We are very happy to offer the audience in Gothenburg the pleasure of seeing more African teams in the age 17 class. We are also proud of the diversity and depth presented this year – Gothia Cup 2017 provides participating teams with valuable international experience as well as pleasing the crowd with the highest level of youth international football, says Niclas Freiholtz.

Gothia Cup Tipselit Trophy is a talent driven class for handpicked teams at the age of 17. The class is carried out in cooperation with the Swedish Elite Football (Sef, B17) and Women Elite Football (EFD, G17). Half of the participating teams are Swedish and the other half international. The tournament is played July 16-22.

Last year’s champions were Elfsborg in B17 and QBIK in G17.
