Gothia Cup has signed a new three-year contract with SKF as the main partner for the world’s largest youth football tournament. The enhanced cooperation allows Gothia Cup to remove the pay wall for live streaming of matches during this summer’s tournament.

After ten years of working together the Gothia Cup and SKF develops their partnership further, with a new three-year agreement that extends over the tournaments from 2017 to 2019.
Gothia Cup has previously broadcasted about 1,100 matches during the tournament week, and thanks to the cooperation with SKF, Gothia Cup can now remove the pay wall and offer live streaming of the matches for free worldwide.

The partnership with SKF gives us a solid financial base, to ensure that we can continue to offer young people from around the world a meeting place and a positive experience. Through the extended partnership with SKF, we can now offer people around the world to take part in all the joy that is spread at the Gothia Cup, by offering free live streaming of about 1,100 matches, says Dennis Andersson, General Secretary of the Gothia Cup.
When SKF became the main partner of the world’s largest youth football tournament, in 2007, they started the “Meet the World” – pre tournaments to the Gothia Cup, to give more children and young people with different backgrounds the opportunity to play football and to come to Gothenburg to meet teams from 80 different countries. “Meet the World” arranged by SKF locally in about twenty countries every year, where SKF employees give back to their communities by organizing a football tournament for local youngsters. The “Meet the World” tournaments are played between January and June, the winner of each tournament will go to Gothenburg to play Gothia Cup, July 16 to 22.

Since the start of the “Meet the World” 195 tournaments has been arranged in 41 countries, with a total of over 24 000 participants. 3000 players have participated in the Gothia Cup as winners of the “Meet the World”.
As the main partner SKF has also created the Gothia Cup’s main stadium, SKF Arena, at Heden, which seats 7630 spectators and which since 2013 has become a center court for the tournament.
