FAQ
When do we receive a confirmation that we are registered? To begin with, we will send you a confirmation that we have received your registration (this is not a confirmation that you will participate in the tournament). Once we have received your team fee you will be sent a confirmation and you are considered registered in the tournament. In the end of January we will send you a first information letter, on the conditions that the team fee is paid. Your payment for the accommodation will be confirmed in the beginning of May. All the confirmations will be sent by e-mail if we have your e-mail address, otherwise you will receive confirmations by post. Which is the last date to register and pay?The last date to register and pay the team fee is April 10th. Last date to pay the accommodation cost is May 10th. Be aware that the first teams that have registered and paid the team fee will be prioritized when reaching the maximum number of teams accepted in each category (A, B, C and D). Have in mind that most of the categories are fully booked long before the last day to register. Which rules of dispensation do you apply?Dispensations will automatically be given for two players per squad (in 7-a-side classes, one player) who are maximum one year over aged. Note that you can not use more players from the squad by switching them between games. In classes B16, G17 and G15 teams from countries that still use the 1st of August limit (mainly USA and England) may also use players five months over aged. Girls may play in boys’ teams in class B11-16. Gothia Cup will be played in accordance with applicable sections of the FIFA rules. Gothia Cup can’t give further dispensations on our own responsibility. The only advice we can give teams that have three or more players over age is to register in next age class. Why is there a limit how many teams to register in each category? The mission of the Gothia Cup is to create a meeting place for young people from different cultures, regardless of religion and skin colour. The initial idea was to accommodate all players and leaders at schools which would be the natural meeting place. Still the majority of the teams stay at schools, but we have also chosen to offer other alternatives for a limited number of teams. Clubs that, for example, already have established a contact by visiting each other will also have the opportunity to do so at the Gothia Cup. Further, the Gothia Cup will be the most international tournament in the world. To keep the standard of internationalization we need to make sure that no single country dominates. No teams should play against each other that normally play in the same series. How do we order extra Gothia Cards to the accompanying persons? The team leader can reserve extra Gothia Cards (includes tickets to opening ceremony) to parents and other supporters not living with the team at their own page (My Team Info) at www.gothiacup.se. Tickets can only be pre-booked at “My Team Info”. You are guaranteed to sit together with the team at the opening ceremony if you pre-book the Gothia Cards at “My Team Info”. Gothia Cards can also be purchased at the Gothia Cup Central Information at Heden during the tournament but sitting together with the team at the opening ceremony can’t then be guaranteed. We are 3 leaders, can all of us attend the Leaders Party?2 leader cards are provided for each team living in a school. Tickets for the Leaders party as well as extra coach t-shirts are sold at Heden, the centre of Gothia Cup. |
How do we make a hotel reservation for the team?We can offer lodging in hotel for max. 100 teams. The first 100 teams registered for hotel accommodation and that has paid the team fee will have priority. Make your team registration in category B and Gothia Cup will contact you regarding a possible hotel reservation. A deposit (25 % of the total cost for the room(s)) should be paid to Gothia Cup 30 days after receiving the confirmation. The total payment has to be paid before May 10th and a name list should be sent to Gothia cup on June 1st. When checking in the team will receive a welcome package with the Gothia Card and other tickets. Please contact Gothia Cup for price information. How many adults are allowed to stay in the school?4 leaders per team. How many players can we have in the team? There is no limit to the number of players in each team, but no team may sign up more than 18 players in a game (11-a-side) and 12 players (7-a-side) on the participants’ list for each game. Our team is staying at a hotel, can we purchase lunch and dinner? If you are staying at a hotel you can buy meal cards through Gothia Cup where the team can eat lunch and dinner at a school located close to the hotel. When ordering the meal cards it is important to inform us if the team wants to eat the meals close to the centre or the hotel. We want to stay in a specific school. Is that possible?Mark your preference on the registrations form. We will do our best to fulfil as many requests as possible. What means of transportation do we use to get to the different fields? With the Gothia Card there are free rides on the city busses and the trams within Gothenburg and also the trains to Kungsbacka are free. All the fields are located within the reach of the public transportation system. Gothia Line is Gothia Cup’s shuttle service that goes on busy routs between some of our playing fields and schools. Please use the public transportation system is first hand since Gothia Line only is complimentary to the public transportation system. What’s the difference to stay in the central parts of Gothenburg compare to outside the city?Number of schools in the centre is significant fewer than outside the city, therefore we can’t offer everyone accommodation in the central parts of Gothenburg. If you live in the centre you will be close to Heden, Avenyn and Liseberg, but you have longer trips to the games when/since there are only a few playing fields in the centre. It is very common to play games at for example Kviberg or in Kungsbacka. If you live outside the centre you will be closer to the fields and the surroundings are often quieter. How many games will we play? You will play 3 or 4 games in the first round, depending on if your group has 4 or 5 teams. From each group the 2 first placed teams advance to Play off A and 3-5 placed teams advance to Play off B, starting Wednesday afternoon or Thursday. All play off games will be decided by the cup system, i.e. by direct elimination. |
How will the age be controlled? Each team must submit a list of players to the Gothia Cup administration before its first game in the tournament. All players MUST be able to identify themselves and to certify their age with a valid passport. For players from countries where a passport id is not required when entering Sweden the least requirement is to present attested picture identification. This will be taken care of as follows: For teams lodged in schools or hotels booked through Gothia Cup – When you receive your participant cards. For teams without accommodation booked through Gothia Cup - At the Central Information on/at Heden on Sunday and Monday and at Gothia Kungsbacka Center, Kviberg Center, Slättadamm, Välen or Åby on Monday before your first game in the tournament. At this time each player on the list must be present and show proof of identity and age. This should be done before Monday 3 pm. Single players can join at a later time, provided that they are listed on the first given participant list and that the player shows valid proof of id at the Central Information, Heden before he/she plays his/her first game. We are not a certified team and want to borrow players from other teams? Most districts allow players under 15 years old to switch club once a year. It is possible to change club for not licensed players at the half turn of the year. You then have to sign a paper between the clubs. Be attentive that the players belong to the club he played for at the Gothia Cup even in the fall season. The player can’t go back to the mother club as easy. For licensed players (15 years old and older) applies the usual rules of transition. The player has to be licensed at the football association in respectively country for playing in the Gothia Cup. What kind of identification do you approve in the Gothia Cup?All players MUST be able to identify themselves and to certify their age with a valid passport. A valid identification is a card covered in plastic with name, date of birth and a photograph and also a valid passport. We also approve licenses from some districts: Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Skåne. Players from countries where a passport id is not required when entering Sweden, the least requirement is to present attested picture identification. What rules applies to foreign teams?Foreign teams have to follow the rules that apply for each country. Since most countries belong to FIFA, the rules are very alike around the world. The basic rule that applies everywhere is that each player has to be licensed to play with the team you play for in the Gothia Cup. The club has to be registered by the Football Association of its country that in its turn has to be a member of FIFA. When are the finals played? You find the final schedule under Week Program i the menu. Where is a certain class playing? One age class is not playing at just one location. The tournament takes place at different fields all over Gothenburg, and one class can play their games at different locations. Which organization stands behind Gothia Cup?Gothia Cup is owned and managed by the non-profit organization BK Häcken. |
