2001, again the number of participating teams reached the highest number ever – 1,226 teams from 64 countries. Countries who participatd for the first time was Burkina Faso, Fiji, Tanzania and Zimbabwe. Games where played on 67 fields around Gothenburg. Brommapojkarna IF from Stockholm, Sweden, where best club reaching no less then 3 finals.
Our own football school in Burkina Faso is here to play and they showed a colorful (more than skilful) way of playing. Maybe the most attractive performance during this year.
Gothia Cup Leaders’ Café is opened for the first time. A well deserved place for all leaders to sathel at.
