Elfsborg won the Gothia Tipselit Trophy

B17: IF Elfsborg – Djurgårdens IF 1-0 (0-0)

In the final in the Gothia Tipselit Trophy the Swedish teams IF Elfsborg and Djurgårdens IF met. It were the team from Stockholm how had most possession of the ball during the first ten minutes, Elfsborg worked themselves into the game but none of the teams created any good chances. It took a while into the first half before the first chance came, Djurgårdens Nemanja Bacic got a good opportunity in the penalty area but the Elfsborg-keeper Christoffer Gatara saved.

Djurgården reclaimed the initiative in the game and Markus Bönnelycke forced his way into the box and shot towards goal but the ball was saved to a corner. Elfsborg got a counter attack going and Jack Bergdahl got two chances to put the ball into the net but keeper Paul Lindqvist made a good save. The referee whistled of after 35 goalless minutes.

In the second half both teams seemed cautious. They left an absence of scoring opportunities. Until 20 minutes into the half. Elfsborg attacked on the right wing and played the ball inside the box, Adam Josefsson had a clear shot but Paul Lundqvist made a tremendous save.

After 62 minutes Djurgårdens Simon Strand were sent off after pulling down Elfsborgs Simon Strand outside the penalty box. And would get even worse for Djurgården when Adam Josefsson made the game´s first goal and Elfsborg were one nil up.

The score stood until full time and IF Elfsborg took the clubs second title in this year’s Gothia Cup.
