Free dental care at Heden Center

Pubished: 2009-07-16 Kl: 10:06

There is a bus just beside the E.ON-tent on Heden Center. In this bus you can get free dental care. The bus is usually touring schools in Gothenburg to supply children with dental care. Now they are stationed at Heden to help the participants of Gothia Cup. When we visit the bus, 24-year old Jonna Holmlund is sitting in the dental chair. She is an official at Gothia Cup, but got a few minutes of to get her teeth examined.

− This is great! I have not had my teeth examined for over a year, and then I was in Thailand. So it’s really about time that I did it again.

− We have been here for six years straight, says 58-years old dental nurse Eva Karlsson while Jonna gets examined. It feels good to be able to do something extra for the players. We can fix almost any problem here, this bus is fully equipped.

So far it’s been quite a smooth sail for the staff. A couple of lost fillings, some cases of toothache and a few broken braces are the cases so far today.

− Actually there have mostly been leaders and Gothia staff here, says Eva Karlsson. We invited a team from Kongo-Brazzaville because we know they are here for the first time. Only one of the boys had visited a dentist before. That time he had to pull out a tooth without anaesthetic, so he was kind of nervous. All guys in the team have beautiful teeth. We have also been visited by Brazilians, Moroccans and Americans.

The dental care is available between 09.00-16.00, until Saturday.
