Pubished: 2009-04-09 Kl: 10:02

Meet The World is a project that Gothia Cup runs together with SKF. The project, which consists of smaller tournaments around the world, with the aim to create global meeting places for young people regardless of gender, social background, age, culture and religion. The tournaments are played all over the world and the winning teams will travel to Gothenburg to represent their country and SKF in Gothia Cup 2009.
Meet The World tournaments will be organized in the following countries in 2009.

Countrys Date Age class
Czech Republic      9-10 April B12
Mexico 12-18 April   B14
Malaysia 4 April B16
Kenya 28 March G16
Poland 15 April G19
Zambia 24-25 April B14

Recently ended the first Meet The World tournament. The tournament was played in Kisumu, Kenya. The girls team, Kisumu Youth Olympic Centre (KYOC) won all their matches and were the lucky winners of the tournament. The cheers of joy that erupted when the team received the information that they would travel to Sweden in July were overwhelming and you can still hear it at the football centre.
”This is a dream that never happened before, not even any of the boys teams here have had the opportunity to travel outside West Africa”, erupted one of the spectators.

We wish KYOC warmly welcome to Göteborg and Gothia Cup in 2009 and we wish the team great success in the tournament.
