Gothia Tipselit Trophy (B17)

Gothia Tipselit Trophy (B17) will take place during the Gothia World Youth Cup tournament. Being probably one of the most qualitative age categories in the world, Gothia Cup Invitational will be a very professional tournament with only high quality international youth teams. 

Gothia Tipselit Trophy is an invitational tournament for boys aged 17. 12 Elite teams from Sweden receive 12 international teams in the most prestigious meeting of the year. Gothia Tipselit Trophy 2017 will be the 9th time the tournament takes place. Teams that have celebrated victory in past editions are Wolverhampton, Elfsborg, GAIS, Santos Laguna, Everton and Right to Dream.

Age group number of players

Boys born 1st January 2000 and later.  Countries that still use 1st of August limit (mainly USA and England) may also use players 5 months over aged. It is also allowed to use a maximum of two (2) players born 1st January 1999 and later.  Each team may register a maximum of 18 players.

Number of teams

There are a total of 24 invited teams, 12 from Sweden (strictly from the Swedish Premier League) and 12 from Europe and the rest of the world.

Tournament regulations

The teams are divided into groups of 4. All teams meet in a round robin series. The two best placed teams in each group go to the A finals. The rest of the teams play the B-finals. The four best group winners qualify directly to the quarterfinals, the other group winners and seconds in each group go to eightfinals. In B-finals the four best group winners go to quarterfinals, the other 3rds and 4ths go to the eightfinals. Eightfinals and quarterfinals are played the same day.

Playing period

2 x 30 minutes.

Playing fields

All games are played at fields in the city centre and are played on astroturf.


The teams are lodged at common school in classrooms between 16-22 July.
All delegates receive beds and bedding.

Meals are served at the school. The meal programme starts with dinner on the 17th and ends with lunch on the 23rd. Various activities will also take place.
