Togetherness at Meet The World

Meet The World unite people from all over the world to meet and play football. This year Meet The World contains 25 teams from 24 countries. Tonight they were greeted by Tom Johnstone, CEO of SKF:
- I want gold medals for all Meet The World teams!
The clouds scattered just in time for Meet The World’s welcome ceremony and raised the spirit among the teams who started to dance and sing in circles. Among the 400 participants the CEO of SKF, Tom Johnstone, took part of the activities:
- When I got here I was freezing but now I sweat!
Meet The World is a tournament arranged by SKF since 2007 where teams from different countries compete through national qualifications. The winning team from each country gets a free participation in Gothia Cup and a new match kit.
- Since 2007 we’ve held 100 Meet The World tournamnets in 45 countries. In total we’ve brought 1650 kids here to participate in Gothia Cup, says Tom Johnstone.
The background to Meet The World is to offer an opportunity to every children, irrespective of origin, to come here, meet friends and play football.
- It supports the principle of Gothia Cup. There should be an equity and a chance for everyone to participate regardless of financial resources. Gothia Cup is a fantastic event and it’s growing larger!
Last year one of the Meet The World teams, Club Toluca FC from Mexico, won the B15 class and this year Tom Johnstone is hoping for more gold medals in his welcome speech. But the most important thing and the last sentence of the speech is the following:
- Enjoy and make friends!
