Great evening at the leaders’ party

Not only the young people get to dance and meet new friends during the Gothia week. Yesterday, the leaders’ party took place in Scandinavium, with 1800 leaders eating, partying and meeting new people.
- Gothenburg has a long history as a city with a great harbour. Back in the days, Gothenburg used to be a place where people from all over the world met and did business. At the Gothia Cup, we sort of recreate that, said Lena Malm, chairman in the city council of Gothenburg, when she opened the party with a speech.
- I hope you will all have a wonderful evening and a great party. Without all the leaders, the Gothia Cup wouldn’t be possible, she added.
And a wonderful evening it was, with food, drinks and leaders from all over the world getting to know each other a bit more. Two new members of the Gothia Cup Hall of Fame were introduced; Ed Puskarich from USA and Karl Otto Lie from Norway, both rewarded for their lifelong dedication in youth football. After that, Lena Rönnefors gave a little pep talk before the party started.
- This is the evening that you deserve. Enjoy!
The main stars of the evening were, of course, Sofia Fris Åsum and Johan Boding. They gave a music performance filled with energy and talent, and thanks to them, people stood up dancing already straight after dinner. But the leaders also got to see an acrobatic show by David and Fofo, two circus artists. They juggled, did amazing tricks in a trapeze and did the almost impossible trick of balancing a wine glass on top of a balloon, laying on top of a spoon that David held in his mouth. A mind-blowing trick.
The real party starter was Sofia and Johan singing Since You Been Gone by Rainbow. A real floor filler, and all the leaders danced. The sign of a good evening!
